CHARACTER
Name: Donna Noble
Canon: Doctor Who
Age: Thirty-eight

Timeline: 4x13, "Journey's End", just after the Metacrisis Doctor is created.

If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A.

Personality:

Sometimes, Donna Noble can be a bit scary, because she's got a rather explosive temper that can burst out when she's angry or frustrated, and sometimes, she can say some vaguely insulting things, usually in high-stress moments. But it's not that Donna's a mean-spirited person; her sharp tongue and quick temper covers up her capacity for understanding and compassion, as well as no small amount of intelligence. She's a bit quick to undermine herself, calling herself "just a temp", but Donna Noble definitely has a brain.
To say she's shallow and, well, stupid, would be unfair to her, because she's really not. I mean, yes, she's obviously got an eye for fashion, even with her supposed limited budget, and though it's not really said, it seems that she does enjoy so-called girly things like going shopping. Or maybe it's just that she knows how to pamper herself, and she enjoys doing said pampering.

But still, she's actually quite perceptive, picking up on things about the Doctor during their first meeting. For example, it didn't take her long to realize that the Doctor needed a companion to go with him on his travels, that he needed someone to rein him in and be there for him. She'd only just met the Doctor, but that became apparent to her rather quickly, although granted, the Doctor's extreme actions at the time might have had something to do with it.

Some might say that the Doctor and Donna were kindred spirits, very much on the same page with each other. Their sense of humor was similar in that both of them tended towards a dry sort of wit, which turned out to make them excellent foils for each other, something both of them needed. You might say that, at first, Donna appeared to be this abrasive woman who was quick to criticize, usually just a bit harshly too. Being with the Doctor calmed that down a bit and helped to bring out Donna's more compassionate side. There were quite a few occasions during Donna's travels with the Doctor that she would beg and plead with him to stop and save people whose lives were in danger, even if doing so would mess with the flow of time.

That was quite the shift in Donna's personality towards the end of her travels with the Doctor. Whereas before, she'd been rather selfish, only thinking of herself, she became somewhat the opposite, being selfless and putting others before herself. The episode set around the destruction of Pompeii puts this into sharp relief, because Donna was adamant and desperate to save as many lives as were possible, even though the Doctor said the eruption and resulting destruction was fixed in time. Donna was absolutely not content to just let people die, not when she could do something about it.

It's also important to note that Donna really doesn't have a great deal of self-esteem. She's usually the first one to label herself as unimportant, and it seems that she really believes that. And it's that belief that most likely caused her to put on that brash and loud persona of hers, because otherwise, no one would even pay attention to her, since she believed herself to be insignificant.

And I think it's interesting to note that Donna never really seemed to realize that about herself over the course of her travels with the Doctor. Martha Jones, the Doctor's previous companion, who also seemed to have issues with her own importance and worth, came to realize that she was important, and as she put it, she was good, just like the Doctor. We never got a similar statement from Donna, which makes me think she never changed her opinion of herself.

But whether she saw it in herself or not, the fact remains that Donna Noble is a fierce woman with great capacity to love and to look after others, especially those who can't do the same for themselves. She's fiercely loyal and compassionate, and definitely a lot smarter than she gives herself credit for being.

Background: http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Donna_Noble.

Abilities: Donna's about as normal as they come. She doesn't have any supernatural abilities or powers. It probably won't come into play in game, but at the canon point I'm pulling her from, Donna has a Time Lord consciousness residing dormant in her brain.

First Person:

In case you ever wanted to know, being dumped into a forest is a brilliant way to make an entrance. And even better, it's raining!

[ Donna rolls her eyes and shakes her head. ]

Oh, don’t tell me you actually believed that, whoever you are. Of all the ways to arrive somewhere, it had to be like this!

[ Her clothes are already damp and getting wetter by the second; for just a minute, she looks as though she's contemplating taking them off to wring them out, but the rain isn't letting up, so there really isn't any point in doing that. ]

Honestly, I haven't got a clue what's going on here, but it doesn't matter. I've got to get back to the Doctor. Of all the times to get dragged off somewhere, it had to be right now.

[ And then as if Donna's day hasn't turned badly enough, there's this great gust of wind that sends her hair blowing in all directions and leaves her shivering and looking rather pathetic. ]

Oh, just great! Not only am I wet and cold, but now I'm freezing too! Please tell me there's a halfway house or something, because I'm not going to be hanging around out here.

[ With that being said, Donna shuts off the phone and starts walking towards the nearest building, clearly on a mission. ]

Third Person:

For awhile, it seemed as though the swirling sensation that felt too reminiscent of how water might feel as it swirled down a drain would never stop. But eventually, it did, and Donna felt like she could finally sit up. She pushed herself up from the sandy ground she was lying on, and with a grimace, she checked out the state of her clothes.

"Ugh, and these were new, only worn once before I bought them," she muttered to herself. No, the clothes weren't entirely new, but they were in good condition, and they'd been practically a steal at the store that Donna refused to talk about to anyone. It was one of those second-hand stores, but the selection was great, and so were the prices. And, well, really, temp workers never got paid that much, which meant she couldn’t quite ignore it.

But there were other things bothering Donna aside from the sand-and-water-stained quality of her clothes. She was wet and she was cold, and she had no idea how she'd wound up sitting on the banks of a river. Hadn't she just been in the TARDIS with Rose and Jack, watching the Doctor- "Wait, what?"

Donna's mouth dropped open as the memories came flooding back to her in a dizzying rush. It all had happened so fast: the Doctor catching sight of Rose after so long of being apart from her, and then the Dalek appearing, followed by Jack's sudden arrival and subsequent shooting of said Dalek. And then, the unthinkable happened, the thing that Donna swore she'd never forget. The Doctor had been dying, and a process she didn't understand and did not want to understand had already started, and there was nothing she, or anyone, could do to stop it.

"Oh no you don't!" Donna exclaimed suddenly, slamming her balled up fists onto the wet ground, not knowing or caring who she was shouting at. "I'm not leaving him, not now. You'll take me back right now if you know what's good for you!" If this was going to be the last time she'd ever see the Doctor, then there was no way she was going to hang around wherever this was. "I'm telling you, take me back!"

Of course, the Doctor was fine, but the situation she'd just been in was nothing less than tense. The Daleks had captured the TARDIS, along with the Doctor, Jack, and Rose, but somehow, Donna had been snatched right out of the TARDIS and deposited in this forest. Of course, there was no conceivable way that she would leave the Doctor to deal with that alone. She had to get back there to ride it out with him, whatever happened.

But even as she shouted, a small voice in her mind told her getting back wouldn't be as easy as shouting demands to the sky. She also knew that if it would do any good at all, she'd fling herself into the river just to get back to the Doctor and the TARDIS. But nothing happened, and the minutes ticked by with Donna standing there stricken, mind reeling with the horrible realization that she was stuck with no way to return.
